  • Brian R. Kahn Managing Partner

    Mr. Kahn is the Managing Partner and founder of Vintage Capital Management (“VCM”) and its predecessor, Kahn Capital Management (“KCM” or the “Firm”), and is responsible for all aspects of transaction sourcing, due diligence, and execution.

    Since establishing the Firm in 1998, Mr. Kahn has invested in and served in high-level operating and governance positions for several public and private companies in the defense, manufacturing, and consumers industries. Mr. Kahn currently serves as the Chairman of API Technologies Corp (NASDAQ: ATNY). Mr. Kahn is the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of White Electronic Designs Corporation, where he served on the governance, compensation and strategic initiatives committees. Additionally, he served as director of Integral Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISYS) where he served on the Nominating and Governance, Strategic Growth and Special Litigation committees. Mr. Kahn graduated cum laude and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Harvard University.

  • Andrew M. Laurence Partner

    Mr. Laurence joined the Firm in 2009 and is responsible for all aspects of transaction sourcing, due diligence and execution.

    Mr. Laurence was previously a Partner at Coral Reef Capital Partners, a merchant banking firm making control and structured equity investments in U.S. lower-middle market companies and providing strategic mergers and acquisition and capital raising advisory services. Prior to Coral Reef, Mr. Laurence was the Managing Partner of Causeway Partners, a Boston-based private equity group making control and structured equity investments in U.S. lower-middle market companies. Prior to Causeway Partners, Mr. Laurence spent seven years at Triumph Capital and its successor, Washington & Congress Managers. Mr. Laurence began his career at Bowles Hollowell Conner & Co., a boutique mergers and acquisitions advisory firm purchased by First Union Corp. Mr. Laurence graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University.

  • Jeremy R. Nowak Partner

    Mr. Nowak joined the Firm in 2006 as lead Research Analyst and Trader and is responsible for business development, transactional due diligence and trading execution.

    Mr. Nowak began his career with Tarpon Scurry Investments, a boutique investment bank, in March 1997. Prior to joining KCM, Mr. Nowak worked at B. Riley and Company, a small cap and research based brokerage firm, where he served as Director of Institutional Sales and spearheaded the establishment of the firm’s New York office. Mr. Nowak graduated from the University of Florida with a B.A. in Business Administration, December 1996. Mr. Nowak has his Series 7, 63, 24 and 4.

  • Matthew Avril Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.

    Matthew E. Avril served until recently as President, Hotel Group for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and is responsible for hotel operations worldwide for Starwood’s nine hotel brands, consisting of 960 properties in more than 97 countries.

    Mr. Avril also oversees Starwood’s global sales organization. Mr. Avril has over 20 years experience in the hospitality and vacation ownership industry, serving most recently as President and Managing Director of Operations for Starwood Vacation Ownership (SVO), a division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide from 2002 to 2008. There, he oversaw Sales and Marketing, Resort Operations, Finance, Legal Affairs, Homeowner Association Management and Human Resources functions. Mr. Avril graduated with honors from the University of Miami and is a Certified Public Accountant.

  • Keith Butler Oncore Manufacturing Services, LLC

    Mr. Butler has over 30 years of manufacturing industry experience. From May 2007 to the present, Mr. Butler has served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Oncore Manufacturing Services LLC (“Oncore”), an electronics manufacturing company serving defense, medical and industrial markets.

    In 1979, Mr. Butler founded Verified Technical Corporation, a manufacturer of high quality Through Hole and Surface Mount Technology assemblies, and served as its President until 1997, when he sold Veritek to REMEC, Inc. (“Remec”). From 1997 to July 2005, Mr. Butler served as the President of Remec’s Global Electronic Manufacturing Services (“EMS”) division and in 2005, Mr. Butler repurchased the San Diego based EMS division from REMEC and renamed it Veritek Manufacturing Services (“Veritek Manufacturing”), a company designed to provide turnkey manufacturing solutions to customers in the western United States. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Butler acquired two additional manufacturing sites and merged Veritek Manufacturing with Nu Visions Manufacturing, LLC to form OnCore.

  • Melvin Keating Infologix Corp. / BTI Systems, Inc

    Mel Keating has experience in various executive, advisory and Board roles for both public and private companies, most recently serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Semiconductor Corp., a worldwide manufacturer and seller of semiconductors.

    Previously, he served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Quovadx Inc., a healthcare software company. He is currently a director of Infologix Corp. and is also on the Advisory Board of BTI Systems Inc. Additional prior directorships include: Price Legacy Corp, LCC International Inc., Integrated Silicon Solutions Inc., Tower Semiconductor, Plymouth Rubber Company, and Kitty Hawk, Inc. Mr. Keating holds a B.A. degree in History of Art from Rutgers University, and both an M.S. in Accounting and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

  • Wesley Lang, Jr. WML Partners

    WML Partners (www.wmlpartners.com) is an investment and business development company founded in 2006.

    WML is focused on three areas: investing its own capital in middle market companies and aiding their development; providing private equity services to select institutional investors; and making private equity investments in Vietnam and Cambodia through Indochina Development Partners LP (www.aim-capital.com). Current direct investments include: Affinity Agency Group LLC, a property and casualty insurance agency; American Indochina Management Ltd, an international trade company headquartered in Vietnam; Essential Pharmaceuticals LLC, a provider of preservation solutions used in organ transplants; The Walsh Company, a real estate advisory firm providing client representation and project management services; and Walsh Hospitality Advisors a third party hotel management company providing asset management services and hotel operating management. From 2005-2006, Mr. Lang was a Managing Director of GSO Capital Partners, an investment firm that specialized in all aspects of leveraged finance with over $10 billion in capital under management. From 2003-2004, he was with Valence Capital Management, a middle market private equity investment advisor to Moore Capital Management, LLC. Mr. Lang spent the majority of his career with Weiss Peck & Greer (“WPG”), a nationally recognized investment management and private equity firm with over $18 billion under management at the time of its sale in 1998. He joined WPG in 1985, was a partner in the Private Equity Funds, a Partner of the firm and served on the Executive Committee. Prior to joining WPG, Mr. Lang was a commercial banker at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company where he specialized in acquisition financing. Mr. Lang currently is on the Advisory Board of York Street Capital Partners, a mezzanine investment firm; serves on Governor Christie’s New Jersey Gaming, Sports and Entertainment Advisory Commission; and is on the board of a number of private companies. He previously served as an Elder of The New Vernon Presbyterian Church, and President and Governor of Morris County Golf Club. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Bucknell University, is married with four daughters and resides in Morristown, NJ.

  • Douglas Topkis Lehigh Natural Resources

    Douglas Topkis is the CEO of Lehigh Natural Resources, an 8,000 acre Anthracite coal mine in Pennsylvania.

    Previously, Doug was a partner of First New York Securities and a managing member of Haystack Capital, L.P. Mr. Topkis has served as a strategic advisor to Mystic Pharmaceuticals, an integrated specialty pharmaceutical company, since 2005 and was appointed as a Director and Chairman in 2009. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Aquilent, an integrator focused on Web-based software development. He served on the Board of Directors of National Renal Alliance until December 2008 when the company was acquired by Renal Advantage. Renal Advantage is one of the largest providers of outpatient dialysis services in the U.S. Mr. Topkis received a B.S. in Finance from Lehigh University and an MBA in finance from The Wharton School of Business.
